Painters in Paphos

Villas, holiday homes and flats across the Paphos district — Kato Paphos and Ktima out to Peyia, Tala and Polis. Half the jobs here are done for an owner who is not in the country, so photographs and a written price come as standard.

  • Owners abroad welcome
  • Photo updates as we go
  • No call-out fee

More empty houses than anywhere else on the island

Paphos has a housing stock that spends part of the year closed up, and a closed house develops its own problems. Still air and a damp winter leave a musty film on the walls that has to be washed off before anything goes on top of it; shutters keep the light out but not the humidity; and nobody notices the small render crack on the west gable until it has been feeding water behind the coating for two winters.

It is also the sunniest, windiest corner of the island for a painted wall. West-facing elevations from Chloraka up through Peyia take the full afternoon sun with sea wind behind it, and that combination fades strong colours — deep reds, blues and dark greys — faster than anywhere else we work. If you want a strong colour on a west wall in Paphos, it needs a product rated for it, and we will say so before you buy the tin rather than after it goes pink.

What we get called for in Paphos

Property-owner work, mostly planned in advance rather than urgent.

01

Villas, inside and out

The typical Paphos job: full exterior render and stone trim, then the interior room by room. Several days rather than one, planned around when the house is empty.

02

Holiday lets between seasons

Repaints in the quiet months so the property is ready before the bookings restart. Traffic areas in a washable finish, bedrooms in whatever the listing photographs need.

03

Managed properties

We work with the key from the management company, send photographs at the end of each day and invoice the owner directly. No need for anybody to fly in for a paint job.

What the west coast does to paint

Sun, wind and long empty months.

Fading, and which colours go first
Ultraviolet breaks down pigment, and the organic pigments used for strong reds, blues and violets go first — a deep colour on a west elevation can visibly shift in three summers. Earth tones and mineral pigments hold. Where a client wants a strong colour outdoors we use a system rated for it and say plainly what to expect.
Stone trim and render meet badly
Half the villas here mix rendered walls with stone quoins, sills and surrounds. The joint between the two moves and it is almost always where the failure starts — an open joint takes water in behind the render, and the coating lifts in a strip. It gets raked out and sealed with a flexible sealant before anything is painted.
A closed house needs washing first
Months of still air leave a film — dust, salt, sometimes a light mould bloom in the shaded rooms. Paint applied straight over it is a paint film stuck to dirt, and it peels in sheets later. Washing down is not an extra here, it is the first day.

What a Paphos job costs

The same island-wide prices apply, with no call-out fee — a small flat repainted in a day starts at €381 with the paint included. A villa is a multi-day job and gets a written quote after a survey, because the exterior condition, the access and the amount of stone trim change the figure far more than the floor area does.

Every figure includes VAT and the paint. For owners abroad, the quote, the photographs and the invoice all arrive by email.

Paphos questions we get asked

I live abroad. Can the work happen without me there?
Yes, and it usually does. We collect the key from your management company or a neighbour, send photographs at the end of each working day, and finish with a set of before-and-after shots. The price is agreed in writing before we start, so nothing changes while you cannot see it.
Is there a travel charge to Paphos?
No call-out fee, and the prices are the same as everywhere else. Paphos is a full day's commitment from Larnaca, so we appreciate a little notice on the date — but it does not cost you more.
My west wall has faded badly. Will a repaint last?
It will, with the right product. The question is the colour: if you want to keep a deep red or blue on that elevation it needs a UV-stable system, and we will quote that rather than quietly using standard exterior and letting it shift again.
The house has been shut up since the autumn. Anything special?
It gets washed down first — a closed house always has a film on the walls, and paint over dirt fails as a sheet rather than a patch. If we find mould in the shaded rooms it is treated and sealed, and we will tell you if the cause is ventilation rather than the paint.
Can you paint around a booking calendar?
Yes. Give us the gaps and we will tell you what genuinely fits in them. For a full villa exterior it is better to take a week in the quiet season than to try to squeeze it between two lets.
