Painters in Nicosia
Interior and exterior painting across the capital — homes in the suburbs, offices off Makarios, and the older stock inside the walls. Fixed price before we start, and most office floors are painted while nobody is in them.
- 40 minutes on the A2
- Out-of-hours office work
- No call-out fee

The one city where the sea does nothing for you
Nicosia sits in the middle of the Mesaoria, and everything about painting here follows from that. It gets the hottest afternoons on the island and the coldest winter nights, with nothing between the two to soften the swing. A south-facing wall in Strovolos can move thirty degrees between a July afternoon and a January dawn, and that movement — not rain, not sun — is what opens the hairline cracks along beams and window heads.
The other half of the story arrives on the wind. After a Saharan dust episode every pale facade in the city goes grey, and the owners who used a cheap matt exterior discover that dust does not wash off it, it sinks into it. Which is why an exterior here gets a dirt-shedding finish and a colour chosen with the dust in mind, and why so much of our Nicosia work is offices and clinics rather than beach flats.
What we get called for in Nicosia
Inland, commercial and residential, mostly outside working hours.
Offices, out of hours
Law firms, accountants, clinics and government-adjacent offices around Makarios and Stasinou. Friday night to Sunday, floor by floor if it has to be, so nobody loses a working day.
Suburban houses
Strovolos, Lakatamia, Latsia, Aglantzia, Engomi. Full interiors, stairwells and the outside of a two-storey house — the standard Nicosia family home, done in two to four days.
Inside the walls
The old town has stock nothing else on the island has: sandstone, lime plaster, listed elevations. That work is slower and uses breathable products, and we say so before quoting rather than after.
What the inland climate does
No salt to fight — a different set of problems instead.
- Thermal movement, not weathering
- The coast gets salt; Nicosia gets range. Concrete lintels, beams and window heads expand and contract further here than anywhere else, and cracks reliably follow those lines. A crack that has moved gets opened, filled and reinforced where it needs it — filling flush and painting over is a six-month fix.
- Dust that does not wash off
- Saharan dust is a fact of the calendar, not an accident. Exteriors here want a finish that sheds dirt rather than absorbing it, and a colour that survives a grey week — which is part of why so many Nicosia facades are in warm sand tones rather than brilliant white.
- Old plaster wants to breathe
- Inside the Venetian walls, plenty of walls are lime plaster over sandstone. Sealing one with a modern film-forming paint traps the moisture behind it and the surface blows within a couple of winters. Those walls get a breathable mineral or silicate system, which costs more and is the only thing that works.

What a Nicosia job costs
Same prices as the coast — the capital is forty minutes away on the A2 and carries no surcharge. A small flat repainted in a day starts at €381 with the paint included; for an office or a house, put the real floor area into the calculator and you get a figure rather than a bracket.
Every figure includes VAT and the paint. Weekend and evening work is scheduled, not surcharged.
Nicosia questions we get asked
- Can you paint our office without us closing?
- Yes — that is how most Nicosia offices get painted. We start after you leave on Friday and finish before Monday, or work floor by floor over consecutive evenings. Water-based low-odour paint means the room is usable the next morning, not aired out for a week.
- Do you work on listed buildings inside the walls?
- We do interior and exterior decoration on them, using breathable lime-compatible systems. Anything that touches the fabric itself — stone repair, structural work — needs the Department of Antiquities and the right trade, and we will tell you that at the survey rather than paint over it.
- Our facade went grey after the dust. Does it need repainting?
- Often not. A wash-down tells you quickly: if the colour comes back, it was dust sitting on the surface. If it stays grey, the finish has absorbed it and repainting with a dirt-shedding exterior is the honest answer.
- When is the best time to paint outside in Nicosia?
- Spring and autumn. Painting a west-facing wall in a July afternoon means the film skins before it can level — you get roller marks and poor adhesion. In midsummer we work the shaded elevations first and follow the sun round.
- Do you charge travel from Larnaca?
- No. Nicosia is forty minutes on the A2 and there is no call-out fee anywhere we work.
